The track continues several miles to the west of this point to connect to the Burlington Northern main line that runs between Seattle and Tacoma, and it is used nearly daily by freight trains. Renton would make an excellent starting point for transit on the railroad because of extensive parking and the convergence of numerous bus lines at the nearby transit center.
